Description
We arrived at the Alvarado station just as the 16 bus westbound was pulling away from the M stop. He hadn't made it to the crosswalk yet. I don't know what time he pulled out, but we couldn't have been more than 10 seconds behind him, and we try to arrive on time. We crossed to the other side of the station and attempted to wave him to a stop and let us on. He saw us waving. He didn't stop and waved some kind of signal. We attempted again to get him to stop at the South end of the station at the Amtrak stop sign and crosswalk. He did not. So we went out to 2nd and Gold while he was at the light and again to ask him to open the door. He gesticulated something. My husband is 70 years old and was wearing oxygen. I am a stage 4 cancer patient and we needed to take the bus. If it was a 10-15 minute wait, it wouldn't be a problem to miss the bus. But it is at least 45 minutes. And he had several opportunities to pause to allow us to board. If the bus leaves the station early, it is not a service to the public.

I understand there is probably a policy about stopping for someone when they're not at the bus stop.
I'm also sure that the driver can make the call to pause long enough for someone who has just arrived at the stop when the doors are still open to let them get on. This guy had to try extra hard to make sure that didn't happen. And the "gotta stay on schedule" argument doesn't mean much when you're ahead of schedule and ignoring clients who are arriving at the scheduled time.
Boo.
